Overview

Louisiana Nature.jpg

Congo Square Jazz Orchestra is a traditional jazz orchestra (in the likeness of Benny Moten, Duke Ellington, and Billy Eckstine) that returns jazz to its original drum section families by removing the drumset and restoring the instrumental families of the African nations that were imported by French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese slave traders to the Louisiana colony. Including (but not limited to) the nations of Benin, Senegal, Congo, Mali, Nigeria, Ghana, and Cameroon. This also includes the instrumental families of the enslaved people that came to Congo Square by way of the European claimed lands of Haiti, Jamaica, Cuba, Florida, Virginia, Maryland, and Carolina. This also includes the instrumental families of the people who were in the Mississippi Delta region prior to the arrival of Europeans and Africans by way of colonization and the transatlantic slave trade.
